Domaine de la Côte lies on the very western edge of the Santa Rita Hills appellation on 40 acres of clay loam over fractured shale and diatomaceous earth.  This is an exceptional terroir for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in one of the coolest climates for grape growing in California.   Raj Parr, Sashi Moorman and their partners purchased the vineyards and bulk inventories at the beginning of 2013 from Evening Land Vineyards.  Domaine de la Côte released its first vintage, the 2011, in 2013.  Domaine de la Côte is organically farmed by Cosecha Farming.  Only heirloom varieties of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are planted at vine densities ranging from 4,000 to 7,000 vines per acre.

The work being done by Sashi Moorman and Rajat Parr at the far end of the Santa Rita Hills stands to redefine quality for California Pinot Noir.
